There have been some threads on here about the fors and against for newbies and group riding, but after the Invasion of the Valleys ride where some folk found riding with more experienced riders beneficial, I think, as I always have, that riding with other people at your own pace and then being able to discuss various techniques is of very great benefit.

I've had plenty of experience of riding in a group and would be happy to meet up with folk in the Midlands area for an informal rideout.

I am up for this, I'm in the northwest area.

Although I'm going to be group riding on the north wales ride out #2 so I should learn lots of stuff then.

Last rideout I was lucky enough to end up behind Empty, who thanks to his new bike not being a Ninja-6 was slowed enough that I could observe him.

Learned a lot about lines and when/where to brake.

Riding with other is good, but I think that what Rictus was proposing as a plan IS a good idea.

Cant see that the Rictus thing would be a bad thing to cover - how about broken up during the day and doen at various stops?

Well, you should certainly learn where all the ice creams places are

Personally whilst agreeing that Rictus's idea is good, I feel that it is to heavy for the type of meet Jelster proposed. Don't want to put peeps of by making it sound like a seminar.

I see somebody understands where I'm coming from...

K.I.S.S.

There will be a time and a place (and somebody better qualified) to give the whole 9 yards.

This is about getting people used to riding with others
About the basic what and what nots to do
It's about getting those who don't have a great deal of experience of group riding getting the confidence to do so.
I may even cover a little about organising a ride itself,

Most importantly it's about getting enjoyment from riding your bike

What Luckypants said pretty much.

My personal feeling on it is close to petevtwin650's. Ie. Get out & ride, and everyone ride to their own ability, with some sort of marker system so folks don't get lost.

IMO, confidence comes with experience. You can teach anything, but it's only when it's put to use that the teachings are really understood.
