I had a VN900 and actually found the big wide seat more uncomfy than the sv. I have back problems after having discs removed - I'd try the lycra shorts idea, but I don't know if a gel seat would be the best support - memory foam would maybe be a better idea.

When I bought the SV in 2006 it had a lowered seat on it, and it was not comfortable.. When I put a standard SV seat on it I felt no discomfort at all. Even after riding 2000 miles in 6 days I felt fine. No blisters and no aches. Maybe I have a standard SV bum?
