And now we get onto 'peds....

For those of you who know Cheltenham, this happened outside the town hall, going round towards the Royal Well bus station and beyond... For those that don't, it's a 3-lane TL junction (one left, two ahead), with a tight right-left hander followed by a long straight.

I pulled up in middle (outside, straight ahead lane) and a scooby pulled up next to me. Then, from behind, filtered a ped (pug one, I think) which proceeded to wobble past into the 'cycling' box at the front. I had a little grin to myself, as knew what was about to happen, but then I heard a loud laugh from the scooby driver. I looked over, and we both grinned... Needless to say.... lights turned the ped "roared" (sorry, squeaked) off with the rider 'foot dragging' into the corner(think speedway-stylee but with the bike upright??!) .... scooby driver and myself look at each other, start off, and do a dual flank overtake (me on left, scooby on right) as the ped was riding in the middle of the road!! The look on his face at the next set of lights as he caught us up was priceless - needless to say he hung back, and let us proceed at our own pace (which, as it turns out, wasn't "racing" at all!)

I also got abuse the other day for overtaking a bunch of 7-8 peds who were riding in group formation, wide carriage way, in a NSL (they were doing 30-40)....

Fools.

Georgio - wot sarah says

I'd take it back to the dealer and have those irksome devices removed ... lets face it they just add to the weight of the car and make it look ugly

You know i dont really get that "girls bike" thing, i mean no one has said it. Probably because i always look angry, they maybe dont want to upset me ha ha. Ive heard people put it more tactful, girls ride those dont they... "Well yes but thats because its a good bike" i say.

Perhapse because it sound pretty nice they leave it?

Impreza STi's are pretty slow... do them to a ton its over the 120 mark they start to pull a little ground.

There is only one car that i couldn't have overtaken on the local bypass near me and that was a ferrari spider... for obvious reasons. Though i was faster in the corners, he just got on the power so much earlier than me Guess thats what £120,000 gets you

Till you come up against a C20LET in a corsa or Nova, the smile would be wiped from your face then, very very much so.

If its ned looking (neons, striped, generally tacky stuff), don't bother wasting the fuel.

If its smooth, very tidy, subtle, have a go, you may be embarrased though, you may not.

I played with a Tommy Kiaria (?sp) Skyline on the SV, needless to say, I was highly embarrassed. Wasn't even a constest, both went off, he left me standing, twice.

Still, theres different types of people, some will have abit of fun for the hell of it, give you the thumbs and some respect, the dangerous ones are the people who can't accept defeat/understand when enough is enough. They will drive dangerously, erratically, and pretty much do anything to win. If you come accross these types, back off, leave it, they are more like the people to knock you off and drive away without a care in the world about you or what they've done.

That is a disproportionately high percentage when considering the overall number of bikes to cars.

We are going to be having our bike privileges curtailed before long for sure. On the safety front, from 2010 all new biks will have to have ABS fitted as standard.
I know of some people in Portugal who take to racing hardcore on motorways. Videos it and everything. They do 160+ in small hatchbacks, although as far as im aware, your very limited what you can do to cars there. Has to be bodywork and not engine related when it comes to modifications. Other countries have the same rules.

Over here, if you were racing at 160+ and videoing it, you wouldn't be free for very long.

Cruises have died off (not the local neds at a McDonalds), proper shows are full of chavs and wannabies, but there is still a significant crowed properly into cars.

The sensible ones are realising that its fast becoming too dangerous on the roads, and are taking it to track days instead.

I got harassed by about 12 chavs on peds, they followed me into the centre of town and tried to push my off when I slowed for a roundabout, unfortunately I couldn't speed away as the nearest dual carriageway was 2miles away.

What sort of 0-60 and quarter would you expect to see out of a C20LET powered Nova, Daimo? With a sensible street tune and no ludicrous lightening, so you can still use it to go and buy nappies, that is. I'm a huge fan of engine swaps like this, there's a little voice at the back of my head that won't go away, and it says "Mk 1 Golf GTI with a Cupra R 1.8T in it" over and over and over.
