Faulty volts, most likely. Cheap aftermarket ones. Never buy your volts off Ebay, you order 12 but when you check the packaging carefully, most of them will be undersized.

Or, alternatively, I can stick SV connectors on my spare CBR one and post it to you, and see if that works?

I did wonder that... but that gets to the realms of stuff too complicated for me.. Have to wait for Chris to arrive for now and have a looksie later. Im indoors in bed and i'm sat twiddling me thumbs for now. Not that im indoors rushes to my aid when things go wrong, happen i'll end up doing it myself with Chris

Chris here.

Going to check the alternator output today and if thats in spec then will nick the RR off the yellow bike and see what happens

As for earth leakage is that leakage from the alternator coils to earth or do you mean checking if the bike is drawing current from the battery when the ignitions off? The alternator shows infinite resistance to earth when checked with the multimeter

Chris

ok checked it all. just reducing charge when revving and lights on. everything else fine. First of all I'll get a new battery, having an alarm they don't last as well. Then we can tell with a decent one. If we get same stuff after a while we'll know its a defo for RR.
I kinda need new tyres before RR cause they're a lot skiddy and square and rubbish Meztlers.
However on looking around wires around the tail light area we found one that goes nowhere.....Any ideas...its black and red..nowt to do with charge probs but its mysterious..

Sorry to but in to your thread but is there anywhere I can find a write up on what voltages etc should be. I've seen you guys talking about battery problems on here a few times and talking about various multimeter readings, but it's all a bit confusing to me.

My battery has given up on me twice in the last 10 days. Both times I stalled and after it wouldn't start again. They first time I was close enough to home to wheel it back and put the battery on charge. But today I had to call the other half out and jump it off the car.

I want to work out whats wrong, hopefully just needs a new battery, but I don't really know where to start to investigate.

I'l leave this here as I've typed it but think I'll start a new thread too.. sorry.....stoopid newbie here
