If you buy from this site it has some major advantages. Click on the sellers username > find all posts by > then scan through them. Hey presto the history of the bike with no lies!

Hmm, buying from a shop is no guarantee of anything I'm afraid.

You'll have to fight long and hard to get any money back and if there are problems with the bike the dealer might just take so long "dealing" with it you'll have forgotten what it looks like. Just my opinion of course.

What's wrong with this one. I know it's faired and not a naked, and a year older, but it's immaculate, cheaper than the one in the dealers, and with less miles.

I agree with the comments about looking on here first. If a bike is being sold by a member you would expect them to be honest in their description.

Hi Sarah,

My local dealer tells me that Suzuki GB have now run out of 0% eligible SV650 K6s and Sports - could you please tell me if this is correct, because I don't believe him?

For me, both with cars and bikes, I would nearly always buy privately - I think you an tell a lot of the vehicle from the owner, buying from a garage gives you a little after support, but obviously their prices reflect that...

Just me 2 penneth worth...

I buy my bikes from wherever they are priced right. Sometimes it's a dealer, but mostly private. I've been known to fly to Belfast with a few grand in my pocket to buy a Gixer Thou and ride it home via Dublin/Holyhead. Also flown to Newcastle from Stanstead to buy a Thunderace and ride it home.

Stamped service history means very little. To see an owner who has been meticulous in the self service would mean more to me. Ive seen some of these grease monkeys at work and to be honest, you could get a grease chimp to do a better job.

Overall condition and that gut feeling always helps. Im sure someone on here would be willing to go with you for a look.

I spent some time this summer working at Flitwick Motorcycles in their workshops. I have to say they are meticulous about their servicing, and I will certainly be booking my Daytona in for its 18K service very soon, just to keep the book stamped up. If something is on the schedule it gets seen to, and they don't muck around when it comes to doing a job well, they are extremely particular about things.

If and when I get a newer bike I'll be taking that to them too, to keep it in warranty.

In that case I might well buy one of those instead.

Thank you.
