Same. I always think of it like that, my mum didnt get why I had to ruin the other meaning of it.

My bottle is half emptied on account of me drinking half the contents. Whilst i was filling it up this morning, it came to a poitn of being half-filled.

Good point, I hadnt considered that. But for arguments sake, lets consider only equilibrium positions i.e. when no stretching or compresion force is applied

I was thinking more about if it was a Cheese String, that snack-box treat. Because they are all the same length, more or less.
