The last "boycott" was a joke, there was no actual boycott, just a call to buy the exact same amount of petrol but on a different day. Bet they were shaking in their boots at that... The only way to boycott petrol companies is to stop using petrol. Bugger that frankly, tell me where else you can get as much fun for a quid as you can with a litre of petrol?

I have done 18000 miles in 6 months in my work car, and my pence per mile allowance doesnt cover the cost anymore......have the govement put up the recommended company car allowance in line with tax.....have they balls.
Its getting to the point where I would have to consider whether having various motorsport orientated vehicles is worth the cost. Sat yesterday looking at fuel costs, tax renewals that came in the post, insurances and other maintenance and general costs......its getting to the point for me where I have to think is it really worth having stuff like this for fun. On another note I may have almost convinced my missus to take a big risk in us both quiting our jobs and doing something we enjoy together like a starting a resturant or taking on the lease of a country pub. hmmmmmm, would be amazing. |

Whilst petrol forecourt making very little selling fuel they make a lot selling goods that people buy when buying petrol.
The oil compaines have got a lot of space to cut prices, whilst they make very little at the forecourt (as they keep telling us) they make masses at the refining stage whilst I am not going to trawl trough all the figures I belive all the big oil companies profits are well into the billions. Poor little oil compaines Also the supermarkets buy there petrol of the big oil compaines, so how come its cheaper? There is a quality issue but I dont think it really accounts for the diffrence in price. As far as I belive it is all the same petrol just with diffrent additives in it that are mixed at the road tanker filling stage. |

I'm currently wondering why all the truckers and transport companies have not piped up yet.
The protested and did blockades when it went above £0.90 last time, and it had an effect as tax increases were stopped and the price dropped under £0.80 |

My company says the taxman will only allow me 10p/mile for diesel. I am out of pocket every time I use the car. Yes the taxman does raise allowances when price goes up/ and lowered it when it drops. But usually 6 months after the price has gone up.

We're an oil based economy until that changes nothing is going to happen, as said above most of what we pay at the pump is tax...

With the crude oil per barrel price fast approaching $100 and as mentioned ever decreasing supply, one can only expect prices at the pumps to increase.
Petro China are coming on strong in this field and once again our far eastern "friends" seem to be positioning themselves very strongly. Russia is also one of the few places where a reasonable level of supply remains to be obtained. I know that pump prices in the UK have always seemed falsely high due to taxation but given the world wide economics of the situation I do feel that forecourt protests stand to reap no real benefit at all. |
