I drove past it a couple of days ago, still there and still bent. Funnily enough there is also still shards of plastic on the verge and your broken wing mirror on the other side in the grass!!!!

Will the current policy terminate on a total loss? I know it was discussed but don't recall if you mentioned your policy terms. How long did you have left on your policy? |

Ah, was it? If it terminates on a total loss then that's still time on cover that you've lost (this isn't the same as the insurance period argument earlier just in case someone asks lol). I guess I'm just saying, the payout seems pretty good, but it could be an illusion that it's turned out better than not having crashed/claimed...when you factor in the need to re-cover 44 weeks, and the premium increase (not over the previous year, but over what would have been otherwise paid) - and that's for 3 years too...

All that means I can shift the 2yrs NCB to my new bike here, which combined with being through the magic "2 years experience" means quotes are now 25-30% less on identical bikes than they were 8 weeks ago, even with a claim on my record... Yes, i expect them to cancel the policy and get no refund, but that's a given, they fulfil their part of the contract and that's all they have to do. I never said I was expecting to come out ahead in this, so it doesn't bother me if i have to insure another 675, or something else, or even just let the moeny sit and decided what to do next. I treat insurance as a running cost like fuel or tyres, money that's gone and you're not going to get back...

Re: them cancelling the contract, yes it's part of the deal, yes it's a given, etc - but at the same time you've increased your 'insurance running costs' from 'X for 52 weeks' to 'X for 8 weeks'. That's all I was pointing out there - which you seem to realise anyway... |
