We had an open bhp limit before all this restriction boll0cks and in real terms no more riders or other road users were KSId then because of an excess of motorcycle power. Look at the accident figures and statistics and speed is rarely a factor in motorcycle accidents, so wtf have we got a horsepower restriction for? Of course they'll always be a brainwashed copper or two (who is usually too young to have taken a 1 or 2 part test and wouldn't remember the days of 250s on L plates) who'll give it all the "You don't have to go round telling Mrs Bloggs that her little Johnny is dead" crap, but that doesn't happen often now and didn't happen often when little Johnny Bloggs could ride a 250 on L plates then buy a foul handling CB900 immediately after passing his test.
I've been riding and driving for over 30 years, I've lost more mates to cancer than I have bike or car crashes, and more of them died in car crashes than on bikes. Pretty damning when you consider that the majority of my mates are regular motorcyclists. People will die on motorbikes - that's a sad fact of life, but in motorcycling's defence, if it
wasn't dangerous and risky then most motorcyclists wouldn't bloody well do it!
As far as I'm concerned Europe can take its standardisation of licences and stick it up where the sun don't shine, it's not like European states take any notice of the laws Brussels imposes anyway - as Chris said, we're about the only European country that does do as Brussels says, and look at the state we're in.
