If you can run comfortable at that HM pace and not 'going for it' then IMO that should be your pace past 10k.

that gives you 90 mins to do 8 miles, from what I remember you said you felt ok after, so add the crowd and your adrenalin and you will probably do 18 miles quicker (but be careful) on the day giving you a bit more leeway.

Don't do what I did though and do the 1st 10k in a pb time then have dramas and not enjoy yourself. Make your main target to enjoy the atmosphere, if you get a sub-5 then that's great, but don't make it the be all!

Just completing the marathon and raising money for BIRT is a challenge in itself and one that most people will never even attempt let alone complete.

Run some of it at your HM pace. See how it feels.

Don't run all of it though at that pace, too close to the day.

Just a quick one, and a bit strange, what underwear do you lot use when running?

I use my tightish type cotton boxers, but have an inkling they might not be the best!

I use nike pro compression shorts, not for the compression though, just because I am fat and my thighs rub otherwise!

If I forget them, I simply won't run it is so painful if I do it without. I would be walking like John Wayne for days!

just starting to get back into the running myself over the last few weeks, so ill be following this from now on.

anyone see that eddie izzard thing last week, immpressive stuff.

just done my best ever 5 miler
a teeny tiny bit quicker than 9 minute miling.
so pleased with myself.
