Thats good news Rich, they're not wasting time getting it sorted for you are they? Sounds like surgery is the best long term solution, and when its healed you'll have to give up dangerous rugby and take up a more sedate pasttime - motorcycling perhaps??

Cheers KJ.
Getting my over night bag sorted at the moment. It's like getting ready to go away when I was a kid. |

![]() Ive done it so many times this year I was really hoping it was done with for a while, but I guess not! As well as my flaming kidney stone I need to have more treatment under the neurologist but recovery after the last treatment was so painful and debilitating and horrendous I cant face it this side of Christmas, so as long as nothing changes theyre happy to let me wait til January. Something else to look forwards to!! At the moment Im more concerned with the fact that even tho Ive got a new reg/rec on my bike its still only charging at 13v, really should be nearer 14-15. If its the stator or rotor thats not working aswell as it should it'll be beyond my capabilities to sort, and my bank balance!! Im going to get a contact cleaner from Halfords in the morning cos the connector is looking pretty manky, i'll try the easy solutions first, you never know I might get lucky...for a change!! ![]() |

They let me out!
Had the op on Friday afternoon and stayed in over night. I haven't see any x-rays yet but the nurse told me that they had plated and screwed everything as planned. I have another half cast on for now and need to go back in a couple of weeks to have the clips taken out (like stitches but more like staples) and a full cast put on. The pain isn't too bad at the moment but I've got a large bag full of various painkillers to dive in to if I need them. Rather worryingly one of the staff on the ward was explaining the options for anasthetic. One was the full on general, go to sleep and enjoy the feeling, one. The other was a spinal, inject the back, numb your lower half, and remain awake while they drill into your leg one. Fortunately I got the general with a lot of morphine. My wife came to visit that afternoon but I can't remember too much of it. The ward wasn't too bad. One fella was a prisoner so there was a lot of speculation be tween us as to what he had done. Another was a bloke with a broken arm who had been knocked of his bike. Aparently a woman had entered a junction across his path and hadn't seen him. And she drove off. She did come back though and admitted to the whole thing. There were two older guys there too. And one of them had horrendous wind. It was so bad during the night that it woke me up at least twice! And the nurses were great too. They were saying that they had 12 and a half hour shifts with only 1/2 an hour break all on shift rotation. I did feel for them as they didn't stop the whole time. And the stuff they have to do would certainly be more than I would be prepared to for the money. It takes a very special person to do what they do. |

Glad you're back home and not in too much pain Rich.
Im back in Addenbrookes tomorrow for them to have another go at finding and removing my elusive kidney stone, this'll be my fourth general this year, and you're right, the nurses do an amazing job under a lot of pressure. |

Having had both types of anasthetic I do prefer the going to sleep one, as the needles for the other one are very long!
Plus I like going to sleep, just the waking up bit after the op I don't like. Especially the last one, I won't go into the gory detail. So we're in the same club, with bits of metal holding bits of us together ![]() So now the boring bit, sitting around wait for it to get mend. At least you can sit out side in the sunshine, but a bit frustrating not being able to ride your bike. If you want some DVD's to watch, let me know, as we should be heading your way next weekend for a week away in Norfolk, near sunny (hopefully) Hunny

Cheers.
Good luck Kelly. Mav; you know people tend to look like their pets. Maybe I'm going to start looking like my Landrover?! So long as I don't start failing MOT's and leaving oil patches on the drive I'll be OK ![]() |

Blimey, since when did the EAR become an old codgers home comparing war wounds and discussing hospital methods?
