It is! Good old 'Basher.' I love the story of Nick getting a call from his publisher in the mid-90s saying he needed to see him. Nick asked why, and the publisher said to just come.

When Nick got there, the publisher handed over a cheque for half a million pounds: the first royalties from the use of Curtis Stigers' version of 'What's So Funny 'bout Peace, Love and Understanding?' on the soundtrack of The Bodyguard, which went on to be the best-selling soundtrack of all time.

As Nick has said, "that song has paid a LOT of bills ...."

I saw Rockpile loads of times, they always put on a fantastic show. Dave Edmunds has been a long time hero of mine.

He's never got the public recognition he deserves, he's a hugely influential artist.

Billy Bremner was also a very handy guitar-slinger.

Morning orgers. How's everyone today?

Off to daughter Sioned's house in Kings Heath today to give her a hand to sort out the garden. Going to have to drive there rather than my usual train journey as I have to take with me a load of tools, plants, sacks of horse poo and a large plastic dalek compost bin. There may be some difficulty getting that lot on the train. There's just no porters available to carry one's luggage these days!

And where IS the guard's van?

Up late this morning as we had a late night watching the show our daughter's in again.

Going to have a quick spin on the bike then a good flollop, I think.

It's hedge trimming time of the year - not great when the mercury is forecast to hit 30 degrees here today. Managed to do the Golden Privet out front last weekend but as always the Hawthorn down one side at the back is a nightmare. It's all cut now but I'm inside having a cool down right now before even thinking about raking and shredding the clippings. The gauntlets needed to avoid being stabbed by the thorns are also a tad warm to be wearing today.

Beech hedge down the other side at the back will be next weekend's project.

Hot and sticky here too. We went to Wollerton Hall gardens for a stroll and a light lunch. Went early as the forecast for later looked grim. Just as well we did, we just got home and spent 10 minutes sat in the car while a monsoon struck.

No monsoon here but it has now clouded over and the wind has picked up, meaning I'm sat out outside on the patio right now enjoying a Penderyn whiskey before supper in a now very pleasant temperature!
