Not surprised! Went out for a walk tonight to shoot some 6x9, just a couple of frames left. Probably lost one as I wind the film on until the marks appear just before the next number, then leave it like that, finish winding when it's unfolded. I forgot so I might have two slightly overlapped frames. I re-shot the last one as I wouldn't want to lose it, also the light was fading so I went from 1/2 to 1 second as well. It's a bit of a pig to shoot scale focus at medium distance in poor light. At about 40' and f4 or f5.6 there isn't a lot of DoF to get you out of trouble. Scale marks are at 25' then infinity. On my SLR it had the last mark at 30', which was too near. Anyway I knew it'd be dim so took a tripod and cable release. You get a few looks with that lot all put together!
No reply yet from Japan. Going to put the rear lens element under the microscope at work and see how it looks, hopefully the lines are fungus not scratches.

Apart from the Bessa, I don't think I have any really decent 6x9 cameras. Most are sort of point and shoot really. As my wife has said I will have to start upping the budget and go for higher end gear.

I have only one 6x9 which is the Ensign 820. Mrs Rod also suggested a while ago that I don't have to hold out for preposterous bargains, as it's easy to buy a pup. Also I like to use them so going cheaper and not getting e.g. a rangefinder instead of scale focus (or whatever counts as a premium), or getting a good example instead of a pig in a poke, is probably worth it. Does go against the grain a bit but when I've flogged a few things maybe I'll be less bothered! Hopefully the Mamiya will work out and my 6x6 search is over. On that, I added a few microscope pics to Flickr, still no response from Japan, so if nothing by Monday I'll log a case with ebay.

There's a guy in Bristol who is selling his camera collection, he has I think 300 or so, including some amazing pieces like a Super Nettel. I'm talking to him but am wondering how and if I should purchase anything. Am going to see what he thinks on prices first then worry about it later, it'll be a while before I will be down that way. Would go for a purchase just to kick the tyres of all the others!

Sounds interesting, would be good to know what they have. I would like a Seagull folder at some point as well. Just checked out your photos on Flickr, that lens is pretty much toast. Maybe you will get a full refund as I doubt it will clean up. Would need refinishing I guess.

I'll see if I can find you a Seagull in China. Will try to explore the camera scene a little deeper this year as I want to bring home a half-decent Chinese made machine of some sort.
Totally agree about spending the money if necessary if there's something good and you really want it. Bargains turn up, sure, but if there's one you lust after and it's in demand, sometimes it's worth biting the bullet and paying for it. Certainly over the next few years, it's going to retain value.
Oh, I forgot to say, I bought the Lynx 1000 for £25. Meter seems to respond OK, Shutter speeds seem fine, lens is a 1.8 and perfect.

Well I had been after a Yashicamat for ages and when one fell into my lap I couldn't say no. I did notice fungus strands in the viewing lens though. Something like this 282585871137, going to bid on this, but any Seagull would do. I am also watching a Perkeo 1 and a Solida ii. When are you going back? Good news on the Lynx, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
