£360 a year....less than 30 quid a month for water....I dont think thats bad value to be honest...

What time did it come back on in the end?

Yeah, they can get it done pretty quick nowadays, especially if they use a spray reliner, rather than slip lining with new pipe...

Sounds like they kept to their promise, although I'll check with colleagues in Yorkshire Water regarding the shutoff timescales..

Yeah, most water pipes are plastic now but some of the older pipes are fibre-cement, cement, clay, etc. Fortunately most water companies are good enough to do regular maintenance and do the works when most people are at work so as to minimize any disruption.

But you will always get the whinger and the "I want compensation" types (not referring to you kwak...you didn't have a whinge...just saying) who are never happy with anything and when something does something about it they whinge about disruptions...ho hum!

Just to be pedantic, I've never seen any fibre-cement, cement or clay water pipes - they cant withstand the working pressure or flexibility required for water pipes (not to mention the water quality implications from fiber cement / pitch fibre, sometimes asbestos). These are usually reserved for sewerage or surface water applications.

Most older pipes will be cast or ductile iron.
