FOOD
Quantity AND Quality (street)

Christmas pudding

Turkey sandwiches and cold buffets of leftovers

Baileys Cheesecake!

PRESENTS
Anything that keeps the kids quiet or a games console (one and the same some would argue)

Stuff that requires batteries that you forgot to buy

Presents that require "building" (and the patience of a saint as the eager young pup keeps asking "is it built yet?" ... Lego springs to mind! (I've learnt my lesson there!)

Playing with the kids toys (with the kids of course!)

MUSIC/TV
Slade

Carol singers - don't turn up at my door, sing 2 lines and expect anything except the door slamming in your face. You want some money you can damn well earn it - at least sing ONE whole carol! Lazy buggers!

Reruns of all those Christmas Specials and the Christmas "blockbuster" being a movie that you saw when it first came out at the cinema (8 years ago) and you have now owned on DVD for at least 5 years, but which you probably lost in a house move, or have watched it so much it's scratched and you've JUST ordered a replacement from Amazon

Christmas songs that wash over you like a tidal wave of nostalgia

Like John Lennon's "So this is Christmas" ... always reminds me of when I read what my dad had written on the inner sleeve of his "Double Fantasy" LP ... "John Lennon, RIP 8th dec 1980 (shot in New York), will be sadly missed".
Bit strange also because "So this is Christmas" isn't actually a track on that album

Or me and my brother both getting LP's for Christmas and fighting over whose turn it was to use the turntable Dig the New Breed by The Jam, or Changes by Bowie?? Hmmmmm

finishing work on friday til 7th Jan
not spending time with boyfriend
people at work buying presents even though we do secret santa
not getting into debt this year (unfortunately kids didnt get as much as I would like to give them)
chance to use this cutie

dont enjoy xmas as it seems to be all about money. my ex likes to splash money on kids and I cant afford to. At work we had the infants party with a visit from Santa. was great seeing their wee faces light up when they saw santa.

down side, 4 kids threw up after eating too much at party and running around mad lol

When my children were little Xmas was special, but now it's the nice 8 days off work that I'm looking forward to most.

Pete and I don't make a big deal about Xmas. No decorations or tree (which the cats would destroy in 30 seconds flat anyway), no turkey because we don't particularly like it, and no getting p*ssed as neither of us drink

Pete only gets Xmas day and Boxing day off anyway, so we'll chill out on Xmas day, and go out somewhere on the bike on Boxing day.

Pete's family all live miles away, and my family are either a fair distance away or have their own family now, which frees us from feeling obliged to either invite them here( and that would be fun, our house isn't child friendly) or go to them.

We've bought some nice rear sets for the bike between us, so that's the present issue sorted

I'm not a Christmas-hater, but without young children, it's just another day.
