To be honest, I don't even see the point in text messaging. You send somebody a text, they send one back, and you reply to that. It would be far cheaper to use a telephone properly and have a short conversation. More information can be exchanged in one minute on the phone than messing about for 10 minutes gaining RSI to the phalanges.

I do use texts for one purpose. Alerting & information etc. When my computers are playing silly devils I get sent a text message to say what service/system/application has failed etc.

Another one that has obviously been surfing the porn. Some of the keys on your keyboard appear to be stuck, particularly the Y,E and O. Now what was it Arenalife said about the users of "text speech" earlier

Nope ... that'll be the coffee (sticking the keys) ... as I'm in work and strangely enough my client/employer doesn't seem to think that I should be allowed to surf for porn because Business Intelligence is far more stimulating (yeah right!)

EDIT: See? Keyboard has now dried out enough for the Y, E, and O to work properly now

Using my keyboard, it costs me absolutely nothing extra to type extra text to the forum!

I use full English in my texts too. They throw in so many hundred of the things a month on my contract I can afford it

I find that there tends to be a link between how poorly written something is and how bad the associated advice is. If posts are difficult to read, I don't bother reading them anymore. This is especially true when people are asking for help.

I disagree with that ... on the whole you may be right, but there are certainly exceptions to that rule ... just ask anyone with dyslexia.

Sometimes their posts are difficult to read (admittedly), but show them some respect at least and don't tar them with the same brush. Just because they are dyslexic doesn't make their advice or their request for advice any less worthy than anyone elses

There is a huge and noticeable difference between dyslexic writing and txt speak.
