1000 road miles ( mainly dual carriageway) and then roughly 16 to 30 laps of the Nordschleife at 12.5 a pop, so maybe up to 1375 miles.

You won't be using any significant amounts of middle tyre round the ring, so we are only really talking about the 1000 miles round trip ....

I'm gonna stick my neck out and bearing in mind if they are x-race part-worns, they will be 'as new' in the middle when you start off, I'm gonna say I think you would get away with it!!

I have used my partworn cast-off 'corsas on my roadbike and they have lasted a fair few miles (commuting) .... never logged it, but 1000 doesn't sound that infeasible ... probably a few more?!?! ...

There's a couple of long straights at the 'Ring......

I'll go with the Rennsport roads to the 'Ring, use the SC pros for local TDs and scratching.

Sounds like a plan

Just had a set of these put on the bike. £160 pair roll in/out. Track days coming up so thought I'd get something sticky. Had Z6's but after a torrent of abuse at the track like 'they look agricultural' and 'they're a bit shiny' I lost confidence in them for trackdays at least. Awesome on the road though. Only put 20 miles on them so not scrubbed in yet. They seem to roll pretty nice but I could be comparing them to the squared off Z6's.

Will let you know how I get on with them. Reading the posts on the wear rate something tells me I'll be buying tyres again before the summer is out!!

Let us know how they perform on track Ryan, how long to the gsxr track day?

. This year I'm having to come up with a tyre strategy to fit in trips & trackdays with tyres, all I need now is a part worn set to take me to the end of June...it's like running my own race team (ok, I'm getting carried away now...)

Ignore them. I did a trackday at Mallory with Avon Azaro 3 AV45/46 Sports/Touring tyres on a knackered Bandit 600 and was lapping half the novice field, the tyres never gave a moment's problems.

This what the rear looked like after two sessions.

Next Friday - 29th and can't wait. I'm not counting my chickens on them lasting too long but thought what the hell, worth a try. Got a trip to NW200 in May so if they see it through I'll be a happy man.

Got to say, I do like the look of the really thick 'slick' band at the edges..Watch this space.

I love doing trackdays on "inappropriate" tyres, you don't have the safety margin (ie, you can't just slam it into corners like an idiot and rely on your ludicrously sticky tyres) but you can still make really good pace. Plus, the paddock chat is great... One time the weather was a bit nasty, everyone else in the pits was "Have you got wets to put on?" "No, but I do have heated grips!"

But still, if I do any this year I'll stick something sticky on it.
