Saying that, I was not of that era, so only know this stuff 'hearsay'
The one everyone wanted, and still does, is the original black engined Z1, which wasn't a 1000cc it was a 900. I think the green bike in the picture is a Z1A, or possibly a Z1B, but it's not one of the very first ones into the country. The engine tune got softer as they brought new models out.The original Z1s are extremely rare because Kawasaki didn't have an importer or dealer network when they were around, so all Z1s were imported by odd dealers here and there.

There you go, and it looks like Daimo's dad's bike was also a US import as well, judging my the frame reflectors.

Had two of those, the first was a cracking bike that gave me no problems at all over 2 years and 40K miles. The next one I bought as an ex-Honda UK press/demo bike with 800 miles, it did 11K miles and ate 16 sets of cams (yes, 16 sets of four) - naturally I wasn't happy about this and took the case to court. It ended up being swopped by Honda UK for a brand new VFR750K. I watched them fork lift the complete VF into a skip at Power Road.

This is me on the first one, which had the chassis parts rebuilt just after these were taken. I'd had it back on the road 3 days and just fitted the newly painted black with red and blue Elf Honda bodywork when some thieving ba$tard had it away. These were taken in 1988, get a load of the dodgy tash, trainers and snow-washed jeans.

My uncle has a 1976 Honda Goldwing with 12000mile on it only rides it in pure sun shine. Last time it was on the road was in 1988 and i've never seen him on it. Its not my bag but its mint, naked bike aswell not the fully loaded ones with all the silly bits.

He's got 2 CB4's aswell.

I'll try and get a pic off him.

Its old, but I'm not sure a 76 'wing is something of glory ...

But pics of the 400/4s would be cool

Sorry to get all pedantic on your donkey, but...Honda never called the CB400F the 400/4, it was always called the 400 FOUR. Reason? In Japanese culture the number 4 as we know it is a sign of evil - it's ok when used in conjunction with other numbers but not alone, so they spelled the word FOUR out on the sidepanels.

Next week in Laurie's Anoraks Trivia Quiz "How many fins are there on an RD400 barrel from top to bottom?"

I never said they did ... but it is a common and accepted abbreviation used for the bike (but you KNOW that )

But yes, I was actually made aware of that trivia a while back (but didn't know it for many years of/after 400/4 owning)

It's a common and accepted abbreviation I am doing my damndest to stamp out - like people calling any 70s Yamaha 2-stroke with a disc brake a DX model. They only used that DX thing on the FSiE and RD125/200s, never on 250s or 400s.

Nahh, my dad didn't rebuild it, he bought it off an old guy who'd spent years rebuilding it. Deffo a UK bike though, so the bloke may have had a few images and just copied it. But all parts are original and the bike is from the UK.

Regarding the facts on them, sorry, I dont know, im only really repeating what he said to me. He had one on his wall, so did his mates

No different from me having a nice poster of a Benelli Tornado, or MV Augusta Senna etc on my wall today, just a fair few years ago (im nearly 27btw )
