Re: SV650s Smoking on Overrun and Downchange
Took her in today and explained what was happening , they wheeled her into the workshop and drained her , then topped her up again . Got her back after a natter and a cuppa with the guys in Woods and then hit the road , bimbled along to the A55 and the bike instantly felt different . Before it felt like a very powerful yet slightly lumpy of coiled up anger waiting to wrinkle the tarmac . Now it feels very revvy , almost akin to a nicely set-up 2 stroke , very light on the action too and hardly any revs to pull away . Wound her up a bit on the A55 and it felt crisp too rather than menacing . Neutral is so much easier to find and the gearbox has the faintest "snicking" action as it selects the gears and feels sweet .
Got a friend to follow me tonight on a 5 mile jaunt and he said there was the tiniest expel of smoke from the first roundabout . I accelerated smoothly and then let it overrun , I changed up gears and down gears for roundabouts , we did a big lap of a huge roundabout and I kept steady throttle then wound her up on the hill out of it and he said it didn`t puff at all and was clear . I even gave her a bit of a run on the local link road in not too hard fashion but making progress . My mate pulled up behind me when we stopped after a particularly fun and winding bit of road and gave me the all clear .
I`m much happier about this and am truly greatful for all your input guys . Gearbox oil is now just under the Full mark at standstill and rested for an hour or so . Will keep an eye on this to see if anything changes over the next few days/weeks .
