I tried 'value' washing up liquid before and it was a joke, but to be honest, I find little difference between normal own-brand liquid and main brand Fairy/Persil etc etc .. at the end of the day who do you think make the washing up liquid for ASDA/Tescos etc etc ...

Therefore I don't buy 'value' type stuff as it is ineffective and false economy, but I don't see the need to buy main brand as it doesn't give enough benefit over own-brand. Now I could afford the extra 30p (or whatever) for the Fairy (which IS going to be the same if not slightly better than own brand), but I can't stop myself from thinking that way!!
I know what you mean but over the years i have got used to fairy so buy it out of habit i guess because i know it does the job, I also have a dishwasher (no not Falc) so i hardly every buy fairy these days but i do buy supermarket dishwasher tablets and rinse aid so go figure my reasoning

when doing food shopping I have £40 cash with me and buy what I can for that. I buy comfort (cos I love the smell) but cheapy washing powder. I get whatever washing liquid is on offer. that also goes for crisps and bread. I know tinned tomatoes are cheaper in asda but the fruit is better in morrison so I usually go to both shops and buy my toiletries in poundland. girl i work beside spends £120 a week on her shopping and has take away twice a week as there is nothing in the house to eat???

Depends... e.g needed a gasket kit to rebuild an engine, I still looked at the price, but I was going to need one no matter what really!

Don't fall into the trap of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Sounds very much like my type of shopping, spread between two or three shops in a big shop. I don't tend to change what I eat too much so I know what I usually get and what prices they are. Special offers and reduced stuff is what I'm really bad for

yup Im a tight wad.
when looking at something I want ,I will check the price and then go home.If I really want it then I will make a special trip back to the shop and buy it.(talking large items here though). Most times I never bother going back ,thus proving to myself that I musn't really have wanted it at all.

So what is the 'depends'? is there ever an occasion when you DON'T look at the price?

Dude how is that even slightly related to always looking at the price of stuff before buying!!?!? I take it she was umming and arring coz of the gossip drivel inside, not over the price/VFM aspects

Don't think so, even if knowing the price is going to make no difference to purchasing something or not, I still want to know what chunk it's going to take out of the wallet

The exception to the rule would be the 4am death-burger after a bucket of ale.
