Wise words there, not sure if you really need to cut the spacers tho, as the washers will sit on top, and lets say you wind out the pre load so it's at the same, or a little more than the stock caps provide.
I have new ohlins in there and, new oil also |

With the adjusters on minimal preload, you will find that they are about 13mm deeper into the forks than a standard cap. That is why you need to remove the 13mm. just to give you standard out the box preload settings.
Assuming you are a pie muncher, you may find the minimum sag available to high with that 13mm of extra preload pre applied

How long were the spacers before you chopped them? The ones in my forks are huge!!
When the forks are unloaded and the preload caps are off they sit level with the top of the fork tubes. This makes it a PITA getting the caps back on! |

So essentially you are pre loading the Springs by 13mm before adding any extra preload what so ever then yes ?
Blasted thing, i'll need to get mine cut prob, i think they come up to the top of the tubes, i shall have to investigate soon. |

I never measured the original spacer length, simply measured the difference between the original cap depth and adjustable cap depth (13mm) scribed that round the spacer tub and hacksaw. If you look at the parts fiche you will see there are different spacers for adjustable/fixed caps.

So just to be clear, with the forks unloaded and the caps off, the spacers should not be level with the top of the fork tubes?
Is this right? Before I go and hack bits off!! ![]() |
