Ok - time for an update (or not......)

Ran it at brands -

It worked! (Once water removed from fuel pump switch)

But......
Unhelpful flat spot between about 8.5 - 10.5kish before it takes off 11-14.....

So took tank off to peer at it and (apart from rust) found air filter was 4 foam K&Ns dropped fairly loosley onto the carb outlets......

(Also the Tank rubbers are dead. Honda reccon they want £3.50 each for new ones - have invested in a couple of pencil erasers)

So the "to do" List (Apart from fitting the erasers):

1) Initial thoughts are Refit The Airbox (currently sat in the corner of my studio), Can't see it won't be better...

2) Have a DNR pair of forks with better springs to be swapped over.

Have changed fuel filter (uber manky) (Whoopdee do there's 2 mins of my life I won't get back - although 1.5 mins was spent looking for pliers)

but...

3) Should prob change some of the petrol pipe too though reccon it can wait....

4) Considering swapping the rusty tank for the dinted not rusty one in the boot of my car but can't do that till I can get an O-ring for the fuel tap. (where have all the auto factors gone.....Long time passing.... all turned into bloody 7/11s) - Not exactly a priority though.

5) Need to JBWeld/ Stick a nut back onto the subframe what came unwelded when I took the seat off (though my Fibreglass repair is still spectacular )

6) Fit rear mudguard (which I painted at the weekend - badly)

And finally - if we discount front fairing fitting.....

7) Picking up a fuel cut off relay on Friday - seemed a good idea on the "What's the worst that could happen?"* reasoning scale.... won't be sorry to junk the fuel pump switch..

And I need to be at Rockingham 7:30am on Saturday

Place your bets?

* You could drop it in a gravel trap, knock yourself out, sever the fueling somewhere after the fuel pump, spray petrol everywhere and non spontaneously combust.

And yes I am bored at work listening to disco....

I think you have missed the most important job. Getting more rubber matting.

I also think you are doing far too many trackdays and should donate your next one to me.

Diary of a mechanical incompetant continues......

3 steps forward, 3 steps back

1) Airbox fitted - love working by torchlight. Don't know if it's OK or not - only time I got a chance to rev it out it felt like it wasn't getting enough fuel. Funnily enough this was because it wasn't getting enough fuel. I HATE that bl**dy switch. So need another stretch of private road where I can do at least 95 to see what happens.

2) Fork Springs/ spacers swapped. 20 quid well spent.

3) Unwelded nut glued back onto subframe - not sure it'll last though.

Which leaves the steps backward......

1) Small amount of play top to bottom in front wheel bearing. This would be the front wheel the garage replaced after the brake disc fiasco. Really is a tiny amount so it might be OK to leave till after trackday(??)

2) Steering head bearing bit loose again (I think anyway )

However it could be....

3) The play due to worn sliders on the RH Caliper - Quickish fix for this - swap it for the spare I picked up at the weekend - will need to bleed system again though (yawn)

4) No Idea where the original loom connection for the fuel pump is couldn't see it anywhere - will have to try looking for it in daylight Naturally a total pig to get at.

hmmmm

Would be so much easier to take the SV....

Have decided to admit temporary defeat.

The CBR is not going to Rockingham

Just not enough hours in the night and if I do get it done I'll be to knackered to ride it - also if I'm going to yank the calipers off to sort em I may as well do the wheel bearing at the same time rather than do the whole lot twice.

Also toying with the idea of new tapered head races at the same time - that way it'll all be done and dusted.

Will just have to book another track day to test it.....

The SV is up.....

Flibble - when are you next at play??

23/09 Silverstone GP - circuit saver

Considering either cadwell or donnington in about months time??
