i read somewhere that there are also some 6 pot calipers that can be used with either the tokico or nissin brackets, does anyone know which 6 pot calipers it was that can be used? i think the k1 gsxr1000 calipers can be but i'm pretty sure there were quite a few more that could be as well... anybody know? (friend of mine asking, not me i think thats a bit over kill for the sv650 but whatever)

K1 and K2 will definately fit. But, will be heavy and overcomplex and not actually any better than the 4-pots, which are pretty damn nice... I'd really recommend you stick with those, I had both on my GSXR front end and soon had the 6s back on Ebay.
But then tbh I'm not much of a fan of this mod, except if you already have nicely worked over SV forks- otherwise the plates + brakes are a decent downpayment towards a fork swap, and I'd rather have SV brakes on GSXR forks than GSXR brakes on standard or lightly upgraded SV forks. YMMV of course and all assuming parts correctly set up for you. There's nowt wrong with the standard brakes as long as they're well kept and have decent pads in.

Anyone reading this should read that too for a look at Mr Layton's business practices.

Huh, look what I miss when I stop posting here... I knew he was a thief from way back on SV Rider... I guess this is what happens when he tries to develop his own bits instead of just stealing the designs from someone else

Read a bit more about this whole business - I suspect most people would develop a more balanced view after that.

well the forks are coming apart soon to be stiffend up, and i,m a fairly experienced road rider who does a few track days, and i now have a gsxr 1000 shock in my possesion
![]() But with stiffer and more supple front and rear ends i think some better calipers will improve the bike as a package, and even if i only use the extra braking force once in every 100 miles... i think its a worthwhile upgrade. I,m still searching the threads for a good post on a gsxr fork upgrade with pics/measurements as well... ![]() |

basically all you do is keep the controls/ignition from the SV and replace every thing else. if you are interested why not start a thread and we can help. |

Yeah that sounds like a good idea, i,ll have a look on ebay/breakers for a set of gsxr-600/750 upside down forks from a k2-3-4. I,d prefer USD forks for looks... i assume the hardest part will be getting the steering stem sorted.
When ive got hold of a set of forks i,ll start a thread (and also if anyone knows of a good set of gsxr forks going...let me know!) |
