How does that work though... Thats mad. So basically whoever makes the best engine will end up supplying the entire field!?

Yes, but you get to see how the engine works and build your own improved version. This would later make your engine the best and you will make the money from it, until the process is repeated....

i'll still watch with as much excitment. maybe more. I didnt think the 250s were as exciting this year since lorenzo et all have moved up to 800s.

I think it would be nice to make it a smaller capacity though - maybe 400cc or something? 600cc seems too close to the 800cc class.

interesting rule about the engine buying/selling thing. would be pretty cool to see honda running a twin..

Are they ditching the 125 2t class then too?

No official plans have been published, they will most likely turn four stroke and go to 400cc.

I don't believe that's quite what will happen. You can build whatever 600cc engine you want within the rules, but another team can buy your engine at the end of a race. They almost certainly won't put it in their bike as there's been no talk of making all engines fit a standard frame, but they can take it appart and see how you got it to go that fast. this means:

1) Cheaters have a much better chance of being caught
2) A 50,000 Euro engine can only be budgeted on lasting one race
3) You can't be as secretive about mad engine developments.

Hopefully all of this will mean the engines are simpler to make, and run, meaning the most crucial thing: The size of the grid, is maintained. I would uterly hate to see the replacement to the 250 class end up empty.
