I haven't been out on the new bike so much in the rain. My 650 was my only transport though, so I used to ride in all weathers, the worst thing was taking a soggy wet pair of leathers in the lorry cab with me for a couple of weeks.

"I hate riding in the rain. Its not getting wet that bothers me. I just can't ride in the rain without sh1tting myself every time I come to a corner. I can't enjoy it."
Could not have put it better myself. |

If it was just a pointless but entertaining waste of non renewable resources thing I probably wouldn't bother if it was raining.
I had something planned then I'd get the not entirely waterproofs out. |

I dont mind riding in the the rain, but like most I wont if it's just me playing. Every rider should get some wet weather experiance, you never know when your going to get caught.

I ride all year round. Weather doesn't bother me. If it's wet - waterproofs/textiles. Cold - More layers.
I ride on Avon Storms which are by far the best tyre I have ever ridden on the road. So much grip in the wet. Riding in the wet and adverse conditions is all about knowing your bike and knowing what to expect. Confidence is a big factor, it is quite a surprise how fast and low the SV will corner in the wet. Not much off dry speed cornering. But as always the major factor in adverse weather riding is our majesty roads......****. |

Along the lines of what many others have said...
I've no problem with riding in the rain if I have to (pre-organised ride, commute of some sort, get caught whilst out). At the same time I see little sense in endangering myself unnecessarily so I am disuaded from riding in it for 'fun'. If things like mud, diesel, draincovers etc didn't make the roads so much more treacherous in the wet than the dry then I'd probably ride more in the rain. |
