Was that for a Z6? You sure they didn't put a new front on too?

No, £148.50 for a PR2 (Pilot Road 2) rear + the guy adjusted my chain - presumably you have to have the chain off to get the new tyre on anyway? Oh and he took it for a ride for 10 minutes. Plus it took about 1 hour 15 to sort, I don't know if that's normal time but seemed an age.

WTF you got riped off there bud! Its only £200 at my local national tyres for both tyres doing and they do all the work with taking tyres out and all that... For PR2's. Took about 20 mins and they let me watch they doing it all.

Wouldnt use them again bud! See if there is a national tyre's near you next time.

Fooooook me that's an expensive tyre. I get a pair for not much more than that (granted I fit them myself but still....)

Yeah did seem a bit weird, didn't even ask either! Still, a wide selection of motorcycling press to peruse- although coffee is 20p. Stupid. Robinson's might be good for sourcing parts but they're just too busy for their own good.

It's not cheap but:

1) You should always ask how much something will be before you agree to buy it
2) A lot of people citing cheaper tyres:
a) Fit them their selves so have no labour costs
b) Buy from the cheapest Internet source
c) Fit less expensive rubber, I'd expect the PR2 to be one of the dearest tyres you can put on the SV. It's relatively new, and current Michelins are rarely the cheapest. The pilot sport has now been replaced by the Pilot power for example and so can be bought cheaply, it also isn't duel compound, and won't last as long.

A lot of tyre places discount tyres, it's possible you paid the RRP.

Still steep, I think I got a set of PR2s fitted to a friend's ZX6R for about £215, and they're marginally bigger sizes.

I paid £220 for new front and rear on my bike and thats the centre of London! Yes that is an age, the guys at esstinal do a good a job quickly.

But as Jambo said, thats how others do it cheap. The advice I have been given is that is not really worth fitting your own tyres, hell at the tracks they don't charge much either to fit tyres on wheels. I would rather some do it for me and it be done right!

Well, as it was a bit of an emergency, I'm annoyed but overall pleased with the tyre and being back on the road so I'll look into a better place to get them done next time. I'm not really up for fitting my own tyres as I'd probably stuff it up and am happy to pay for fitting. Ah well!

I've also been advised not to fit my own tyres many times, usually by people not capable of checking their own oil. To save about 30 quid it's well worth the work.
