been driving a car for 10 years and a hgv for 7 years. bike for just over a year now

Just a quick update. The courts are refusing the throw my trial out. Gotta go for a shafting on Wednesday. My solicitor seems to think i will win though.

Does anyone know if i can claim money back for my day off work and possibly for the stress this ordeal has caused me.

Shouldn't be an issue at all to do that. Wait for the verdict of the case you're going through at the moment, then so long as that's in your favour (ie, thrown out or not guilty), counter-claim.

Talk to your solicitor about it, I'm sure they'd be happy for the police to give them some more money.

Sounds to me that you solicitor is very confident and I wouldnt be surprised that if you are able to state what you have said in this thread that the summons including a photocopy of the signed MOT certificate with new plate, then the police will be in for a grilling from the judge......that is of course if the case does go ahead as a briefing usually takes place with all the paperwork concerned be looked at. Good Luck for Wednesday.

If you do however fall foul of the system further, I would personally contact the local press and kick up a stink.
