Yes that would be possible, however, I am having it done under the insurance so they have to keep it at JHS Racing until it is all fixed again.

Well I have to admit that the recent couple of days sunny weather has given me the odd pang or two - seeing as I dropped the Varadero of to it's new owner last weekend (Northampton to Reading in the rain, deep joy ) and I'm now bikeless for a while.

But then I went for a bit of a meander in my car.

Yeah, I know... a cage.

However it reminded me how much I adore my car - it's been languishing in my garage for the past 5 years.

Tchaikovsky drifting from the speakers, sunny blue sky, clean, dry roads, quiet twisties galore... rear wheel drive heaven.

OK, so the old girl will be 30 this year and definately isn't the fastest thing on the block, but boy was it a fun drive. So much so I managed to completely forget I didn't have a bike to enjoy it all on and was just lost in re-discovering how much I loved this car.

(Taken back in the days when I still had my SV too.)

Tis possible the bike is geared for 145mph... thing is unless you are going down hill it wont pull even pull 125 real speed. I had 10K in top gear down hill which is about 135mph (real) was indicating 148mph, when I say hill its about 2 miles long and steep and when I put my head up I lost 15mph instant!

So anyway 130mph indicated I guess might be 118ish in real terms which is pretty possible.

No way on this planet is an SV geared for 145mph!! there are some dreamers on this site

even 130 indicated on an SV requires Hethrows runway to achieve.

We're back to the old "how fast is yours" again. 130 on the clock is easily achievable, whether it's anywhere near true speed is a different matter. I'm going to go out today and try to get a photo of my speedo reading flat out (for the benefit of officers of the law, I know a long private road). It's going to be way off the actual true top speed, but maybe it'll hush some people when they say you won't see this or that on the clock. I run stock front tyre size and my bike isn't tuned or played with apart from the airbox snorkel is removed and the stubbied Akrapovic end can, so it should be virtually the same as anyone else's 650K5S is capable of.

All I have to do now is figure out a way to duct tape a Sony Ericcson K800i to my helmet or tank leaving the camera button pressable.

You're right though, I would find it hard, but that's just because I've never done it/seen anyone do it, and to be honest don't have a clue about what balancing does, let alone how to do it

I wasn't suggesting that the tyres were making it backfire
I meant it's only started doing it since I picked it up from the garage who did my tyres (to get an idea of time) The bloke said it was running lumpy so I should probably get it serviced (possibly through them)..
Has a scorpion exhaust on it, which was fitted well before I got the bike, but it's never backfired before, since I've had it at least.
Doesn't backfire when I shut off the throttle, but when I'm accelerating and hit a slight bump it goes bang. Did it mid corner yesterday, nearly shat myself.
Got onto an A road, national limit, and it would backfire everytime there was even a suggestion of a bump.. revs would drop for a sec and then BANG (sometimes BANG BANG BANG ), and then it would pick up again. Made overtakes even more dodgy than normal!!

No LED on the fob. Tried changing batteries.. no luck
So now my bike is immobilised in my garage. Can't get someone to have a look at it as I have no way of getting it to them (sold motocross trailer with the bike), unless I can borrow a van

I'm sure it's all coincidence but it's slightly odd that both have gone wrong since I got my bike back
