In the 5 years that I owned my bike only once I allowed another
person to sit in the rider's seat: this was an 80 year old man
(collector of Moto Guzzis) and I did not allow him to start the
engine and I kept holding the bike all the time.

I allow Mrs Professor to drive the family car when I am under the
influence but I hold on to grab handles with both hands throughout
the journey + point out all the potential dangers as they emerge
(like Hyacinth in Keeping up appearances). Mrs Professor tells me
that this drives her mad and threatens to divorce me during each trip.

Eeek, your boyfriend must be a nice chap to even contemplate you going near it again, judging by some of the blokes reactions on here!

At least I can be safe in the knowledge that if I ever drop YC's bike, it's not possible to make it look worse than it does, and it would just give him an excuse to shroud it in more duck tape

which is why i wont let my other half drive my ford ranger pickup!
i had a 50 cc twist and go which she rode straight into a wall, so thank god she has no interest in bikes and wont be asking for a go on my bikes. the only person i will let on any of my bikes is my brother.

You've dropped it for him, so now he won't be afraid of doing it again. Does it really matter in the scheme of things - it's only a lump of metal, after all

Well I think you got off lightly with £178. Knowing ebay you might even make a profit selling the damaged parts

How much do you want for the mirror? I would love indicators on the back of mine Do you reckon it would fit an SV? or are the angles where they mount too different ?
