this was also true of the first blades, cbr600 owners traded up to the blade then back to the 600 again because it actully did everything better than its bigger brother.

Had a superb morning test riding a K8 600, 750 and a K4 750, gave myself 3 hours off work so did 3 laps of a 55 mile circuit of fast, twisty A country roads, villages and some town work to give a good back to back comparison.

Very impressed with the ride, handling and braking of all 3 GSX-Rs they felt very planted (controlled) at all times, but more importantly to me very chuckable, making changes in direction easier than my 15Kg heavier CBR = more fun.

Started on the 600 which (as expected) wasn't a massive leap in pure engine performance from my CBR, smoother fueling and 11-16,000 RPM was a definate improvement over the CBR which runs out of warp factor thrust around 12,500 rpm, the GSX-R just carried on pulling. Brakes in a different class and inspire confidence. I would say the CBR is accomplished but boring in comparision. If I had stopped there I would have gone for the 600...but..

On to the K8 750... Wow, over 2,500 rpm, feels like it pulls (your arms off) from every where (compared to CBR and GSX-R600), this bike really wants to just go, as the reviews say a grunty 600. Just as flickable as the 600, pretty easy to get the front wheel in the air too when you want, so I graciously declined the dealers kind offer to try a GSX-R1000 as well. Overall the best road bike I have ever ridden bar none.

Lastly on to the K4 750... what a disappointment!!
I was expecting the gap of 4 years development to be bigger, but to my senses, skill level, on the road the K4 was as near as a knat's chuff to the K8, differences were very subtle, shows how great the K4 verson when it was first launched.

Back into the dealers and the normal debrief/sales session.
First we priced the K8 750 , agreed a base discounted price of £7400, but ended up being near enough £8000 OTR with a full set of R&Gs, quality can, tail tidy, alarm etc.
Mmmm and the 17K miles K4, got him down from £4.7K to £4.2K, but that still seemed too expensive as it still needed an alarm and R&Gs, so I walked.

On to the internet and found a 2006 K5 (same as K4) 750 with genuine 3K miles (criminal), FSH, new tyres and all the accessories, M3 alarm, Yoshi can, R&Gs, rearset, plus all mint originals bits. Agreed a price of £4K there and then, 1/2 the price of the K8 and 98% the bike.

Pick her up week Sunday, well chuffed
Anyone for late spring/early summer tour of the Alps as soon as the snow clears need to make the odometer not look so embarrassing!!

Again thanks for all the advice and very glad that I test rode the 750 and not just played safe and went for the 600.
