Useless, because the stalk is not adjustable, so the position of the mirror is entirely dependant on the angle of the fairing it is mounted on. There seems to be roughly a 90 degree difference between the mounting points for an sv and a gsxr, so unless you want to look at your knees. they're not much good.

maviczap, wise words I could have done with about a week ago :/ Ah well, I'll just whack 'em back on ebay, I reckon I'll only lose a fiver.

I'm now gonna go with DirtyDogs suggestion:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIRRORS-with-I...d=p3286.c0.m14

They seem a little short, but it seems I'm in the mood for risk taking, so we'll see how they work on a pointy. There's always chewy's spacers if they're too short.

Yep, sorry I'd thought of doig the same thing, dem GSXR mirrors would look cool on any faired SV.
But sometimes you can get duff advice on the forum, like SRAD sidestands are longer than SV sidestands and will fit SV's. Nope both facts are completely wrong!

Morale of this story is maybe get advice on the forum first before buying, but beware duff advice.

Hope you get more than you paid for the mirrors i the first place

Hi,

I'm hoping that adding a question to this post is more suitable than adding yet another post regarding after-market mirrors. Please tell me if that's not the case.. tell me off, I'm new to the forum as well as bikes!

I got my 2001 sv650s(curvey) the wknd, and I'm really please with it! I'm still scared of doing more than caressing the throttle..it will be a while before I have the bottle to open her up.

I have after-market mirrors that are frankly crap. Not just for poor design but that are as floppy as a cocker spaniels ears. So, my first purchanse neds to be some mirrors. I've read through all the posts on the site and visibility seems to be a common issue. Can anyone recommend either;

A) Some after-market mirrors that offer good visibilty, look the business and don't cost the erath(I don't want much)

B) Am I best to buy original SV mirrors and some spacers such as http://www.chewys-stuff.co.uk/mirror...or_spacers.htm

Any help appreciated.

ZX7R mirrors will fit on a faired Curvy, they too have a 30mm spacing, and you can pick up cheap replicas.

I ended up getting some like these in the end after a few recommendations:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTORCYCLE-FAI...3A1|240%3A1318

I'd say the visibility on them is only marginally worse than the standard mirrors. They do however vibrate more than the original and the joints are not as stiff, so they are easy to knock out of place and sometimes they vibrate out of place.

The wire for the indicators is also not routed through the arm/joint, which is why there is a rubber covering to hide the wire. You also need to make a small hole in the fairing to feed the wire through, not the end of the world, but it's not as 'integrated' as I expected it to be. Plus I still can't find any solution to blanking the old indicator holes. So I would suggest these unless you want to get handy with some fibre glass.

I'd be tempted to get some official ZXR7R mirrors if they fit(and look good), I think anything 'cheap' might suffer from failure to 'keep it up'.

btw anyone want some gsxr mirrors? I still haven't got around to reposting them on ebay.

Thanks Chaps.

Now I have a better idea what I'm looking for, it's just going through the laborious process of fiding some on the net! Upon my initial search, most places sell sv mirrors for the year 2003 onwards. With my bike being a 2001 model, do they actually differ? Failing my search on the net, I've spoken to a local bike store who have a range of stock mirrors, so this is also something else I'm considering.

Maybe if all this snow clears, I may get the chance for a second ride on my bike. Fingers crossed, hey!

Cheers
