Racetech fork springs £80 from PDQ. These are linear. Racetech fork spring 'strength' calculator here.

looking for progressives to be honest. Not bothered about the fancy emulators and bits like that, just want to tighten up the front end to get rid of the dive under braking and also be able to hold a line through corners a bit more confidently. Oh and I'm a bit of a beast so it needs tightening up from standard anyway

Why progressive though?

What weight spring do you need? IMO bottoming out under braking is fixed with compression dampening. The reason I say this is I can bottom my forks out which are WAY too hard for me... The reason I can do this is because I have to run with only 1/4 compression dampening on because if I run with more they feel solid and AWFUL

So you want correct weight springs (check the link mr pants put up) and some thicker oil imo... or emulators... or Gixxer front end

because YC said they'd suit what I'm after? I can't remember what it was he said now but the advice he gave went into my ears, was processed by my brain, I thought "oh wel yeah that makes sense" and then i completely forgot lol. It was an in depth explanation which honestly made sense but I can't remember now

And I failed that mechanic test which dizzee posted... 60%. Am I a thick, nick? I'm scared. And bored senseless

Awww I feel bad now. :'(

Because they are setup for your weight throughout the entire movement of the suspension meaning that any dive or movement is also linear and wont have any unexpected feeling or movement.

TBH I dont think youll go wrong with either.

we all know what you're trying to say g33k

i've done enough research into progressives and they sound like I'll be fine with them. I'm not exactly a hyper-sensitive rider who can jump on a bike and say "oh yeah, that extra click of rebound really helped me and look! I managed to shave half a second off my laptime!"... I'm more the sort of "yeah that feels a bit better now... not sure how or why but I like it that way".

done. yes!

Putting words into my mouth. Glad that is all!

Anyways im the same. I fitted my Shocker the other day went out and I was like right the back feels fine now (after a bit of playing with compression and rebound) but the front feels TERRABLE! So I played about with the rebound dampening on the front turned it 1/4 turn more and WOW It made a Huge difference!!! I was so impressed.

But try progressive shocks if that sounds more up your street and see how it goes for you. TBH I think going with thicker oil will make a bigger difference.
