The laptop was probably just bored and fancied a chat. Unfortunately you didn't understand him. A little beep is the laptops way of saying hello. You just have to say Hello back and ask if its alright.
It makes it feel loved and it is content and just goes back to number crunching. Its computer programming logistics and binary pshycology 101.
