Hmm, I cannot believe that they won't cover a replaced console under any kind of warranty. Stinks of money grabbing w*nkers to me. At least MS cover your repaired console for a further 3 Years!!!

the compnay who sold it to you will have to replace it under laws of trading.

had a similar issue with my old laptop from pc world. eventually a letter stating there duties as a trader sorted the whole situation out and money was sent to me very quickly indeed

It will be. I've had a few boxes now and not once did they ask for proof of purchase. Just give them the serial number and they tale care of the rest. Jut as well as my Elite might be on the way out now. Darn it. Ah well, maybe I can time it right and get the new box with the new 65nm gfx core. I like to think of xbox360's as the Millenium Falcons of the console world!

UPDATE

After a very long letter to the CEO of Sony I recieved through the post today:

A letter of apology, A New Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller and my Warranty extended from 3 months to 12 months on receipt of recieveing the new console.

Well and truly chuffed.
