I'm sure they're not innacturate to the point where you'll notice.

And for the non digital ones, its not exactly rocket science.

I got fedup with those digital guages, I went to halfrauds and bought and old style traditional pen guage, its much easier to use and its easier to get onto the valves as well.

I've got a footpump saves treking down to the garage forecourt every time I need to put air in the tyres.

+1

Don't buy a digital gauge, there are far more inaccurate digital gauges than good ones, get a pen type gauge, (PCL is a good name), and check it against a known accurate gauge - when you buy a tyre for instance.
There are some good digital gauges - I have a Michelin digital gauge which is excellent, but this is an exception and it's not cheap.

You'd be surprised how little profit the actual petrol station you visit makes. Most of them run as franchises, and as such, their purchase price for everything is set in stone - but they still need to make a profit.

If they only sold petrol (ie, nothing in the shop itself) the vast majority would go bust & close. The only real profit they see is from shop sales of things like chocolate.

I have a good quality dial gauge and a foot pump. I check the tyre pressures before setting off every time. True I don't commute on my bike, so I rarely have to just jump on and go.

I have a old pen gauge, my digital one went odd telling my that my tyres had 96psi in them... I keep forgetting to put it my tank bag.

that it has!

if that it is the case then how comes companies like shell are still making billions in profit? last thing i remember hearing was on the news saying shell (or some other oil company) profits were down, but still the profits were in the billions!

Because a LOT of that comes from NON car/bike fuel products.

Plastics are made from Oil

Some power-stations are oil burning

Houses are heated by oil and gas

See a pattern?
