I just went back to check when you posted that. I unfortunately bypassed what you wrote about the nut and only saw what you wrote about the push rod. Apologies.

Hehehe.

Don't you love curvies, if you had one of them gay EFI's you'd have had to drop the oil and faff about with the water pump and stuff...

Indeed. I keep saying they got it right the first time and then messed it all up.

And I rode it to work this morning.

Jeez, it's greasy on the back roads. But loads of fun.

The clutch nut was loose. Top marks to Jambo.
Surely there's a lock washer to bend up on the centre nut once it's torqued up?

Yes there is. I had a clutch problem a while back which for the life of me could not work out how to fix. I rather embarrassingly gave my motorcycle to a third party to find out what the hell was wrong and how to fix it. He did fix it and told me what was wrong. And yes it was one of those 'Doh!' moments. Anyway, when it came to change the sprocket and chain I found the front sprocket nut had been over torqued and had sheered. It was the lock washer only keeping the nut on. Now with this new problem, I took the clutch cover off only to find that the lock washer on this side had not been bent over.

Lesson learnt (twice). Don't rely on other fekkers to fix your bike. Do it yourself and you then know at least it's been done right and done safely.
