Makes me think of Red Dwarf -

Newsreader: Good evening. Here is the news on Friday, the 27th of Geldof.
Archeologists near mount Sinai have discovered what is believed to be a missing page from the Bible. The page is currently being carbon dated in Bonn. If genuine it belongs at the beginning of the Bible and is believed to read "To my darling Candy. All characters portrayed within this book are fictitous and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental." The page has been universally condemned by church leaders

I think you were missing my point TLW, my point being that yet again religion, in one way or another could be the route of conflict.

and the question ref who are you are I to question others beliefs and/or thought processes still stands....

in the same way that the guy on the street has no right to question me as to why i am a none believer...nor do you or I have the right to question someone who does beleive..unless, as stated..someone else brings it up...on a forum or elsewhere...

ps...i didnt say there was a problem

Welcome to the real world kid - religion has always been a massive cause of conflict in the world

look up the top right hand corner of your screen, there's a little red cross, click it and forget you were ever here

unless you're on a mac obviously, but then mac users demostrate an illogical defensiveness even religious folk struggle to match

It drives me up the wall that it's 'not allowed' to be discussed. Religious people feel free to give Scientology jip, so what makes Christianity or any of the other desert fairy-tales any criticism either?

Does...not ....compute

Oh, and anyone who believes in the stories. I'll quite happily put myself on the line to say; you're a moron. There's no doubt about that at all.

Well, you follow the "rules" or dont. Most religions seem to be very black and white. Personally, my belief says god has a sense of humour because god created genitals - and has the capacity, incidentially, to judge on a case-by-case basis. Stealing is still considered bad, no matter the justification. Doesnt mean I wouldnt do it for the same reason stated - but I would be willing to stand up and say, I broke the rules, with the consequences.

If you are talking about the POLITICS of religon, thats another matter entirely - "thou shalt not steal because it might be my stuff".

the 8th commandment is pretty clear, it's not "thou stalt not steal unless you are starving" - it's "thou stalt not steal"

when you start to take these things literally you end up chopping peoples hands off

Yep. Sub 60 IQ I think. I stick by my point

Believing in a deity, and I'll give them more of a break. But the stories? - Moron through and through.

Mm, I dont think of myself as particularly intelligent, but I dont think I am a moron, either.

It depends what you mean by "believe in the stories" - are you talking about (for example) Adam & Eve? Do I believe it literally? No. Do I believe it as a possible illustration of how my ancestors had a personal relationship with god (and then it got garbled)? Yes. Do I think the earth is 4000 years old? No. Do I have a problem with evolution and Darwin? Not at all....
