I thought the rear shock was the weak link, not the spring fitted to it.

Did the spring change really improve things noticeably?

It is.

Fitting the Hyperpro spring to the rear is the same as fitting the springs to the front in that it masks the problem.

But its a cheap solution that works in the Real World - ie non-track/high performance setting.

I never had any problems with the rear tbh, it's not brilliant but it does the job. Then, when dealing with stock SV suspension it's helpful to weigh 10 stone Combined with the unsophisticated front end it doesn't help though- a really good rear shock can help compensate for a ropey front end, and vice versa, I ran mine on track last year with my GSXR front, but SV rear as my Ohlins was away for servicing, and it did just fine.

And yep, the speedo fix if you go with GSXR is very simple- I'd tap up YC, I think he knows a sensor that's easier to lay your hands on than the excellent but rather expensive Veypor part i used. Either way, it's pretty simple to do.

At least with the front though you can increase the damping to match, the rear with a strong spring will be a pogo stick.

You can't make a silk purse out of pigs ears...the weakest link is the bike
