but tbh, judging from that video, it didnt look like they actaully RODE any of the bikes, they just drove around a roundabout at 10mph, then drove down a straight road at 10mph

Still valid to say that Gladys was the best at doing that

Bike magazine seem to quite like it too.

"The Gladius is a better-looking, quicker, smoother, more refined SV."

According to them changes are:
The engine spins up quicker and is now fed by a 10 hole injection system similar to the GSXR600-750 and the throttle features twin butterflies - a second controlled by the engine management.

A new breather system (Throttle body integrated idle speed control) smoothens and reduces engine braking by allowing air back into the bodies when the throttle is closed.

Iridium plugs as standard.

Aluminium cylinder liners.

Single spring valves.

Heavier crankshaft to soften vibration and smoothen the engine at lower rpm.

Removable plastic pods (good if you drop it) each side of the tank reduce tank size to 14.5 litres.

Improved suspension (no greater detail).

2 piston rear caliper (although Gladius website says otherwise).

"We think it'll sell by the boatload".

I was thinking the same. I'm no SV tuner myself, but even I have read enough here to have seen plenty of posts about crankshaft weakness and so forth.
Whether anything bottom or top end actually would be transferable I don't know, but I'm sure someone will find out sooner or later.

A few of those changes don't sound like improvements to me

Fundamentally, yes. But it doesn't mean they haven't modified it in any way.
