Swapping cams is often said to be one of the best bang for buck upgrades for curvy SVs. Obviously JHS (or similar) cams are going to give biggest gains but are expensive - a set of pointy intake cams are the best value (I got mine for £45 from a breakers).
I think 10bhp is a little optimistic - you might be looking at around 10bhp total with cams/full exhaust system/decent filter but its not all about peak power but usable power. My curvy will need a valve clearence check in a month or so which is when I plan on doing the swap - might as well as I've got to get in there anyway - they've been sat on my shelf for at least 6 months! |

Cans make sod all difference to power. Just a nice noise, weight loss. You generally won't need to remap/rejet.
