now see I always had Norton on my machine, but this year couldn't be bothered buying it, so went for AVG by recommendation. Norton was a right bag of poo, as it didn't pick up on stuff it should have, so I got rid.
I wish I'd stuck with Norton. AVG 8.5 is always cocking up, it forgets to start itself up or can't upload an update or something, and I swear it interferes with stuff sometimes.

ahh well it were free what do I expect!

The previous versions of AVG have been fine for me, it just seems this new one isn't up to much.

yeah yeah yeah, heard this one a dozen times. we speed tested Intel based macbooks against equivalent spec Dell laptops and there was barely 3% difference.

And my £750 macbook is running as strong as it was over 2 years ago. Both my £1200 Toshibas needed reformatting every 6 months, and they failed completely after 2 years.

All I hear about Macs:
You can't upgrade an Apple - Took me 30 seconds and 2 screws to upgrade ram (2Gb), and about 5 mins to replace hard drive (320GB ). My Toshibas took forever to take apart (until the screws all fell out by themselves eventually)
They can't run any programs - I can run XP, Linux, whatever if need-be and most programs offer a Mac version anyway
They're expensive - Initially. But they'll last twice as long
They're owned by ponces - Well not really a myth. That's pretty true tbh

Hmmm, What settings can your mac run Crysis at? ha ha ha.

Out of interest why is a Mac running Windows faster, that just dont make sense... Or we meaning Power PC type thing? Im pretty sure one of those would get spanked by a Core2!?

Building a PC from scratch yourself is the best way. No need to add RAM then... you got as much as you could want in the first place.

Water cooling is cool, but to warrent it you really need to overclock the comp to warrent the extra messing about and inherrant risks.

Fans might not cool the air but the airflow cools the heat sink. Saying that the heatsinks on both my computers are that big they take the micky dont really need fans, just like then to run cooler if I can help it.

One way to speed up start up is to get a nice Graphics card, you'd be amazed at the difference!!!! Think I might get a new one, the Nvidia 260 216 cards are looking good at the moment with price.
