Well, I made it back at the weekend and have just been catching up on sleep and food and more sleep. The route I took back from Portugal was not as interesting in terms or roads (although there were a few exceptions) but there were still some good sight seeing opportunities along the way. I kind of rushed back in the end due to a few problems - problems with my bank and my debit card and a few faults on my bike which I couldn't get fixed on the road - problems which looking back perhaps I shouldn't have worried about but after 6/7 weeks I may have been looking for excuses to get back. Overall though the trip went really well and I enjoyed every minute of it. The feeling of complete freedom, being able to choose your own direction each day, to see so many beautiful sights without having to worry about a schedule and to get away from the daily routine and grind of working life is something I'm grateful to have experienced. I'm glad I did it just to prove to myself how easy it is to just get up and go and know that I'll be able to do more of these trips in the future. Thanks to those who took an interest in the thread and responded or got in touch. I'm going to rest up for another week, get the bike sorted and then decide where's next.

Yeah, not a bad first trip on my own. I've just about recovered now and the bike's almost sorted - the speedo is the only thing remaining which should be fixed on Tuesday. Then I'm off again just for a couple of weeks this time to Devon/Cornwall. I'm looking forward to being back on the road again.
