From what i remember from messing with cars years ago, originally the dump valve was installed to a, get rid of pressure b, it helps keep the compressor spinning instead of on/off,on/off due to pressure release.
So that doesnt put as much strain on the bearings etc. Early turbo's on mainstream cars were generally unreliable, bearings were not upto the job. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong |

I had read about changing the stock recirc valve to allow it to discharge to atmosphere but i didn't want to risk knacking it in anyway, i am awaiting delivery on a forge one should be here in a day or 2 then im going to drive round where i live making loads of noise like a moron till the novelty wears off
