How do you react when getting a tattoo?

I've got 18 of the lil buggers now and I tend to fall asleep.....

The easiest ones were on my thigh, inner forearms and my spine....

The worst were the ones on my stomach and going over the kidneys twanged a bit!

I've got this weird thing going on where if it starts to hurt then I kinda focus on the pain and then block it out....Dunno how I do it but it works...

If I got a tattoo I'd punch someones lights out as they would have had to drug me to get it done as its not my thing. Hair yes... tattoo's no.

I nodded off during my last one...

The only way I can describe it is like a weird form of self meditation?

The ones I've got over my kidneys really hurt but I did the focus thing and then carried on talking a squaddie through his on his shoulders (he was a wimp....He did the whole white face and almost passing out thing )

I think the sound of the gun gets to a lot of people, I was ok with it cos I worked at the studio so heard it day in and day out, whereas we'd get a few people coming in who were fine up until the gun was started......

Maybe it's like the dentists

I've got 6 - my only advice is take 3 paracetamol about 20 mins before you get it done. that seemed to work for me. and also where you have them makes such a difference. the shoulder bone and the calf muscle kills !!
