if you are having ti ask... then you know before you typed the first letter that yes you do, now depends on impact on your life etc, but you could become physically dependent on alcohol and its a bitch to 'come off' ...... maybe cut down a bit ... it will be cheaper and once your tolerance drops you will get a bit tipsy on a lot less than you do now, you may even enjoy it ... but if your puking in the morning trying to hold down a can of special brew then get on the phone to AA (not to collect your car either lol)

Hi Jans
good start, question is what do you want to do about it? do you want to cut down? then set targets, keep a diary and stick to your targets, so say for example, you drink 10 pints a day, set target for 9 pints then 8 etc etc, if you want to stop dead, i would say dont it would be very uncomfortable, and if you had a fit it could kill you ... sorry to scare but; ALCOHOL IS THE ONLY DRUG THAT CAN KILL YOU IN WITHDRAWALS!!!!! ITS FROM CONVULSIONS i f you got some support family friends, etc. and you've told them and want to stop dead your GP can do a home detox, or if you dont want it on your medical record, use a different name and go nto an alcohol service. now if you aint got no 'issues' and your drinking just developed then you should be ok cutting down or stopping, but if you drink to avoid painful emotions or memories you could benefit form counselling or AA,,, i am an addictions counsellor by trade ... and experienced some problems myself not with alcohol. … but principles similar.. hope this wasn't too personal, i wont say anymore unless you ask ... but good luck with what ever you do. ... think of your poor liver.. and riding whistle still having drink in system could effect you if police pull you etc. and its still in your system etc.... god i sound like someone dad... TAXI for the mouthy counsellor... richie |

I don't think Richie is trying to say you are a full blown alcoholic but saying that it will probably be better to cut down gradually instead of cold turkey.....catch ma drift? Probably not. I may be rambling. |

That sign you saw was advertising mixers and not meant to be taken literally. Save some for the Canooks, will you? ![]() ![]()

Wow. I, like some of the others here, thought I drank too much having maybe a bottle of beer or 2 in evening, most nights a week. If not a couple of beers, then possibly a couple of glasses of wine instead.
I don't think I could physically drink 2 bottles of wine by myself, let alone then go out for between 2 and 10 pints after ![]() |
