"The person at the branch has made a right royal........balls........of it all. Half of the paperwork saying we fly on the 14th, half the 7th. "

Just out of interest, when did the paperwork say you were returning?
Just seems odd that theres 7 days between the 2 dates and you were going for a week.

Thanks for all the words of advice guys.

With regards to reading the paperwork, I didn't have it in my possession and I am well aware it should have been checked first. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

In the wee packet, there were several documents. The confirmation letter, insurance and a few other pages said we were due to fly on the 14th at 0725. the invoice, which was stapled inside all thsi bumph, behind the confirmation letter said we were flying on the 7th returning on the 14th.

Unfortunately now I can't go anywhere as we had specifically booked this date as I have a family wedding the day after we come ack.

My friend has been to TC, they are accepting the blame offering us full refund, trvel and car park costs and £75 compo. That was without any pushing whatsoever. I have told her not to accept it meantime to allow me to look into it a bit.

I feel that our wasted leave from our work places should be compensated for.

sorry but i think yo uare being greedy, yes they ****ed up, and they have admitted that, and been more than fair in offering the refund etc.

BUT at the same time you ****ed up by not checking your paperwork properly, if you had this could have been avoided, and chances are they would have still given a good will gesture to say sorry.

suck it up, its partly your fault for failing to check your doccs properly IMO they have been very fair in putting their hands up, accept be gracious and next time read the paperwork properly for mistakes.

I'm with Neio on this one, they've admitted it and are paying you back and with some compensation. I think you should accept that and then just not use them again.
The fault was 50/50 really, with the paperwork not being checked.

(Edit:ah, neio beat me to it!)

Sorry you shouldn't have to double check everything that a professional company does on your behalf - this includes holiday bookings, work on your car/bike, house, anything. This is why you pay a professional, in this case a travel agent, to do it for you. In this case its a simple thing to check the documentation, so I'd advise people to do it, but it should not be a requirement.

£75 is rubbish compensation for a lost week of holiday imho.
