I know everyone is entitled to their way of life but when you are claiming to be one thing and being another its frustrating.

There was a Pakistani post master in the news earlier in the year that refused to serve people who couldnt speak english in his post office as they wasted other customers time.
He went on to say that he came here 30 odd years ago and learnt to speak the language at least.
His point was that if he could do it and integrate with the rest of the UK why couldnt others?
I was working with a Polish lad on a building site recently. He was talking to another Polish fella, when suddenly he started having a go at him. Turns out he was telling him to speak in English as he believed it was very rude to talk in Polish, in front of English people in England.

Fair play to him I say, and although we didn't get on for professional reasons, I respected him a great deal.

I dont employ anyone on my sites who cant speak and understand english properly.

I know "its not pc" but its my decision at the end of the day.

I would rather someone be able to shout "look out below" as something was falling towards me or another worker on site.
It also works the other way to..
"look out below..." *thud* " oh, I didnt realise he couldnt speak english"

I look at it as a failing in health and safety on site and as I carry the can if something goes wrong, its an easy choice.

Ironically most of the Polish people I've known speak better English than the average person working on a building site

I have to say that I agree with the sentiments expressed by (whoever actually wrote that). If we go to Derkaderkastan, we have to dress and act appropriately to avoid causing any offence, as it's your country, your rules. So on the same token, you come to live in the UK, it's our country, our rules. If you doh't like our rules, why do you want to live here?

There is so much you can say about this and all points would be right.

When you look at
Australia it was a country that was populated prior to us (Britain) sending our unwanted criminal brethren there. They then formed a country of their own and want to keep it they way they want.

Even if they did like every country did in the United States/Canada/Mexico/Peru et al and relocated the indigenous population for the gain of the invading populous.

I commend them for taking such a hard line with immigration as it means they don’t have to keep changing the way things work in society to accommodate everyone else.

The fact is, if you want things the way you like then stay in the country you are from. If you want a change, then go somewhere else, don’t try to change the place you have moved to so that it is like where you have come from.

I wouldn’t mind living in Japan as I like they way they run things there, but, I am crap with languages, so, I shall be staying in Wales as I like it here, mostly.

I realise the UK was and is made up of a lot of different cultures even before all the ‘issues’ arose.

We have had Vikings, Romans, Saxons, French and many other invaders over the many years that the UK has been around.

We Welsh are even a separate culture to the Anglo Saxons, as are the Scots, Cornish and Irish, but, we all get along because we are very similar, even if we do hate each other a bit…

I know other cultures want to come to Britain for a change and the ease and making a better life, but, when is it that the line needs to be drawn on things like changing laws for accommodate people who have come over and now make a majority in a certain town or area?

I am not against immigration and I am not against immigrants, but, to pin my flag to the mast, I am Welsh and British, I am raised on Christian beliefs and I believe Britain to be a Christian country.

I don’t see why our government/councils etc have to “bend over backwards” to accommodate people who come here by choice.

We do not force anyone to do anything, but, seem to be forced to accommodate immigrants when they come here.

I might sound like a BNP spokesman now, but, I am not, I have had and do have friends of all colours and religions, but, like the Ozzie guy said (or didn’t say) if you don’t like it here, don’t come here…

I see it in terms of the removal of nativity scenes/'Christmas' signage/etc to avoid offending Muslims. By that token, if I moved to Dubai I would demand the local council remove any mention of Ramadan and knock down all the Mosques. And then they'd chop my hands off, probably.

I dont hate you man, i love wales
I agree with all points as well as most 'natives' do, cant really blame some people for wanting to come here for a better / safer life.
But... it must be within the countries guildelines, laws, religions and culture.
