"hit with a skatboard" suggests it's the latter, which is just plain cruelty and I have no problem with the offender being done for it.

However, if your walking your 5yr old child through the town center when some tit smacks a pigeon with a skateboard for the fun off it. Thats not on. It was probably some idiot showing off for his friends by killing a pigeon for the sake of it, its evil.

And as for pigeons being pests, the pigeon doesn't chose to carry the deceases/pests it has, unlike us it cant pop to the chemist for some tablets, or phone the vet for an appointment. Nor does it purposely crap on anything with the intention of damaging it.

Killing pigeons for pest control is understandable and at least serves a purpose (Though for the above reasons we have no right to do this) However, whacking it over the head for a laugh is completely different.

you're lucky, i helped clean out a belfry. The floor was 2 foot thick in hardened dried guano. We had to dig and shovel it out and throw it down plastic tubes to a skip about 50ft below us. And the tubes kept breaking...

Pigeons are classified as vermin, like rats, crows, rabbits etc.

Booo Hooo Hooooo the vermin got killed.

It's madness, sheer madness. How many birds die an agonising death at the paws of domestic cats.... we should prosecute killer cats
