After reading the threads, you made a good choice. 700c wheels have less rolling resistance than 26in MTB wheels. To avoiud punctures, you need to keep your tyres inflated to the correct pressure, so it would be wise to invest in a track pump. Takes all the effort out of pumping your tyres up.

Invest in some tyres with a puncture proof band at some point. I'm not sure if the inner tubes with 'Slime' inside are worth the money.

But if you're worried about the thiness of road tyres, then don't. Pro riders regularly descend mountain downhill roads at suicidal speeds and rarely have a problem, its just a question of knowing the limitations of the tyres.

Get a rear mudguard if you don't fit a rack, this'll avoid the wet **** and wet stripe down your back.
