Balls, that's that out the window . windows 7 isn't a fan of roaming profiles either IIRC. No, is it free? (probably not).

Actually im not sure if LAN ranger costs or not... Id have to guess yes.

You know you can install windows 7 without a code? you get 21 days or something similar to punch in a code and all is well. Im running windows 7 on this machine and it is super stable, im not plagued with blue screens like I was with XP and Vista. As for drivers I use the standard ones downloaded from the Windows Update site, there are sometimes newer ones available from the nvidia website etc but they dont make enough of a difference to get excitied about. Windows update is usually only 2-3 weeks behind getting them updated anyway + you dont get lumbered with any of the bloat that comes with installed graphics package like the nvidia control centre etc.

edit: Roaming profiles are only available on Windows 7 Pro and above since that is part of the domain capability
also, not sure what LAN ranger is but you could always install it under XP mode on win7 pro? If it needs direct connection to the network then use NAT (which is default I think) and it will appear to be directly connected anyway.

It only gives you three days to activate if you give it a code, if you dont give it a code it then gives you 21 days to give it a code then a further 3 to activate that code.

Windows 7 is a superb operating system, very high quality, packed with features and extremely reliable. You wont regret it.

your hardware will recognise it but windows 32bit wont acknowledge after 3.5ish but where thwe extra memory comes in with the hardware is onboard graphics. your hardware will use the extra memory leaving the rest for windows to play with.

btw. have you ever looked at the task manager resource for memory when you are using your pc. bet you never use anywhere near all your ram. so why address mega ram when you dont use it.

I've just upgraded from Vista to 7 two days ago using the free upgrade offer. It's pretty much like Vista, but my laptop battery likes it more. Personally I didn't see what all the fuss about Vista was, it never played up for me. So far so good with 7 though, apart from the loss of inkball

I'm not going back to XP now, ( only on my old laptop at work..) since I've gone over to Windows7 my system is more stable and seams quicker.
